Wow - thats something I would always avoid watching (i get too emotional) although I have very confused feelings on the subject - being a carer is not even a job - it must be a way of life and people like yourself are actually blessed with a talent for doing it and thank god there are people like you.
I dont think that you have to be a particular type of person to do it. I dont think any one personally choses to as such. When I first met K he was not as ill as he is now. He could walk and his thinking and speech was clear. His pain levels were a fraction of what they are now. He tired easily. It increased over the years. When I met him he needed someone to help him and he knew B and I needed a wing to hide under after coming out of a pretty horrific relationship with my sons father and all the stalking stuff so we got a place together and there you have it He was like my knight in a shining clapped out red ford
But what usually happens is that when someone you love or a family member gets sick, there is nothing you can do but to get on with it. It happens so slowly you dont realize how deep you are into there care you go until suddenly you realize they are dependent on you. The government seem to think that if someone is ill the best place for them is a home or institution. I know K would give and and die if he had to go there. You literally have to fight to keep a person who wants to remain with their family right there. They make it very difficult for those who wish to actually care for someone. Its no wonder people are growing so isolated and selfish. They go on about "family values" but when a person actually means it and tries to put it into practice the government make it almost impossible.
I feel that I had to bring this subject up as yes it is a massive part of my life. I gave up everything to do something positive in my life, to turn my back on what was my past and move forward with my unconventional family of K, my son, and my neighbours cat from across the road who has seen us as fit to adopt us!
It was important to bring to anyone and everyones attention this Panorama documentary as it is ground breaking and such a relief for someone like me to say... this is what M.E really is. Because as I have mentioned people do not take it seriously. It even divides the medical world. K was once told by a gp to take a 5 mile run everyday K could barely walk a few metres let alone run anywhere! This documentary is hard to watch but anyone who choses to educate themselves by watching it if they can is doing the M.E community a massive favor and supporting it.
I would also like to say a thankyou for the supportive messages both off and on the forum. Both K and I appreciate them . and we appreciate it being talked about and mentioned by those of you who have

There are worse things than supporting Man City!
Sorry to read about the RA - can imagine you've had some pretty tough times with it over the years. Re: seeing Kasabian - I have some pretty major health problems and I certainly couldn't stand up for a whole gig, but I made it to Kasabian at Wembley, in the seated area, and though I had to sit down a lot, it was worth it. I also went to another smaller gig recently and requested disabled access and couldn't believe how well I was treated! Ticketmaster etc have a disabled access button on all their ticket sales now so it's easy to find out what the arrangements are.
I do realise making it to a gig with health probs isn't just about disabled access though.

No there aren't. No, you could support Chelsea or be a Holocaust denier, but those are the only two that spring to mind...

Aww poor Mardy . Don't worry I won't bash you for supporting Chelsea. I tend not to bash anyone except my Hubby who is a Liverpool fan but its all in jest. I've had my own fair share of insults. The City thing came about when I was working in Manchester. I mentioned to my boss I hadn't seen a footy match apart from pub football near home. She said her partner would take me and he found us a game which was City v Bolton Wanderers(Thinking I would at least know some players). That was in November 1995 and there have been alot of lows since then and a few highs especially now
Having RA is tough. The only time I felt relief was when I got pregnant. Still I can't grumble too much as there are people far worse off than me. My cousin has Lupus which affects her internal organs. With me its mainly my neck, knees and feet. I also have Iritis that affects my left eye which makes it go all blurred and red.
The hardest thing has been giving up my work

Ha, don't worry I'm used to the bashing it comes with being a chelsea fan tbh. Plus everyone automatically thinks you're a glory hunter to, then I like to remind them that I was going to stamford bridge when I was 8 and there was hardly any glory to be hunting then (well more than we'd ever seen before, but I can't help my age!).
That must me horrid WW, I couldn't give up work or college, as much as I hate college I'd get so bored stuck in the house

You know Mardy I've had "How long have you been a City fan?" and when I've answered its been "That's ok then, thought you'd just become one cos you've got some money"
I loved college Mardy. Those were great years and I loved my job too. I'm sure I've read earlier that your dad is a chef. Well I was a cook and sadly my RA couldn't handle the being on your feet all day anymore and I was signed off . I miss the banter of work a lot but my joints don't miss it lol.

You've just got to shrug it off tbh. Yes, we're in a lucky position but I'd still be a fan if we were in a very unfortunate situation. You've got to stick with your team throughout any situation, that's the point of supporting a team not to switch and change to whoever is doing well at the time. I wasn't a kid picking a team like man u or [scummers] because they were top of the league, I picked chelsea because I'd been brought up around the club being taken to games etc.
Don't get me wrong I used to but this past year has been so stressful, I just can't wait for summer and for it to be over Ooo someone's been doing their research Yeah, that industry is very demanding so it's understandable you had to leave, must of been a very tough choice for you to take

Next month we will be getting a new car which I'm calling Frida. Its a volvo and Frida was my favourite member of ABBA(that's any speck of cred gone ) Daughter wants to call it Serge Lol.
Back in the 70's there was a tv series of the Famous Five. The girl that played Georgina had a red Grifter and I drove my parents daft asking for one. Christmas day arrived and there it was
1977 was a great year Princess Leia made quite an impression to my 7 year old self. I wished I could be her and wished it even more as the saga played out(I knew there was a reason I never fancied Luke) Hubby's Uncle Bill was a Police officer and back in the day you had to be a certain height and this is why they were called to be in the film. He played a Stormtrooper. He's the trooper to the left of Darth Vadar when he enters the rebel ship at the start of the film.
