Becoming a site member is not the same as joining Kasabian's mailing list. It means being able to comment, register gig attendance, upload photos and the like, throughout the site. Your email address is used as part of your login, and so that we can re-send you your password if you forget it. That's all. If you do want to receive the Kasabian newsletter (and you don't already), complete the form on the Mailing List page.
If you have a Google, AIM, Yahoo, Netlog or OpenID account, you can use that to become a member instead, by using Google Friend Connect. Then, you wouldn't have to remember a specific password just for Kasabian.co.uk.
